one of a set of new work on its way to nahcotta gallery. do you know how hard it is to find a piece of paper with just the right gradient? HARD. but worth it.
while replacing our old horrible back door over the weekend i noticed this little guy near the bottom edge that was constantly kicked by kids and scratched at by dogs. calling him a “backdoor” unicorn takes most of the magic away but there he is. and i love him.

The opening vinyl sample comes from an LP I found in Brattleboro VT, cryptically labeled: “Connchology - Junior Show of the Class of 1961” It’s sung by a misanthropic crab in an under-the-sea type parable, apparently.

ode to the last day of summer break. for as much as i obviously adore and cherish my children - their little faces are the sunshine of my soul - i haven’t been alone in 3 months and the bedroom-floor-to-yard mexican wrestling matches and off-kilter twang of the ice cream truck are starting to grate. tomorrow we celebrate with whiskey for breakfast.
A Word About Art.
Humans have such beautiful, creative minds. When you have a group of people stirring a pot, it can get a little crazy. In the case of the Lightyear, I think I lucked out.
Do you guys know who Hollie Chastain is? You should. She is amazing. I found her via her original art, which you can view (and purchase) here: Hollie’s Etsy Shop
I loved one of her pieces so much, I asked her to customize it for me. The result was beyond any expectation I could have had.
Do you guys know I Love Misery? A handsome man named Jose designed the Lightyear logo for me with hardly any direction at all. I LOVE IT.
I’m sure most of you are familiar with Allison Weiss. Never heard of her? What? She is responsible for bringing everything together, web-wise. Website, tumblr, twitter, bandcamp. She is my hero.
And finally, the tallest of them all, Mr. Shervin Lainez. Where would I be without his ability to express the spirit of this project via his beautiful photography?
